Are St. Paul Beer Prices About To Go Up?
A story in the Pioneer Press reveals that bar owners in St. Paul may have no choice but to raise prices. The proposed budget from the mayor’s office in St. Paul calls for an increase bar license fees to the tune of 44 percent over 3 years. The city argues that the fees haven’t increased in over a decade, while city services benefiting those businesses have greatly expanded. As you would guess, bar owners are angry, and some feel that Mayor Chris Coleman is “anti-bar.”
From TwinCities.com:
“It’s getting to the point where we’re just getting piled on, here,” said Dan O’Gara, of O’Gara’s Bar and Grill on Snelling Avenue. “With the smoking ban, and then trying to get the liquor tax through at the 11th hour, it’s getting to the point where when’s enough enough?”
