Issue #2 Of Twin Cities Imbiber Magazine Available
Thanks to a post at MNBeer.com, we’ve discovered Twin Cities Imbiber Magazine, a local publication focused on a high-end drinking experience. If you’re into that sort of thing (and there are times that we certainly are), then be sure to check out their most recent issue. In it, you’ll find an interview with Matt Long of Big Sky Brewing Co and a lot of local beer news. Be warned, the magazine doesn’t focus solely on beer; you’ll find articles on wine and coffee as well.
Finally, we took the time to look up the word “imbibe” for you. Here’s the definition from dictionary.com:
noun
a person who drinks alcoholic beverages (especially to excess) [syn: drinker] [ant: abstainer]

Imbibing isn’t limited to alcoholic drinks, despite the definition listed here… Congrats to Twin Cities Imbiber for localizing drink news you can use. For a more national (and international) look at liquid culture, check out Imbibe Magazine (www.imbibemagazine.com).
Technically, you’re right about the definition of “imbibe.” I did pick the one that seemed most applicable to the readers of this site. Here are a few more definitions from dictionary.com:
–verb (used with object)
+ To consume (liquids) by drinking; drink: He imbibed great quantities of iced tea.
+ To absorb or soak up, as water, light, or heat: Plants imbibe moisture from the soil.
+ To take or receive into the mind, as knowledge, ideas, or the like: to imbibe a sermon; to imbibe beautiful scenery.
–verb (used without object)
+ To drink, esp. alcoholic beverages: Just a soft drink for me—I don’t imbibe.
+ To absorb liquid or moisture.
+ Archaic. to soak or saturate; imbue.
However, the only reference to “imbibe” used as a noun is the definition I included in the post.
We definitely take the more inclusive description, which is to simply consume by drinking.
Thanks for the post and for the record I second the recommendation for the national Imbibe magazine. It’s content is overall of high quality and the presentation is beautiful!
Watch for the print edition of Twin Cities Imbiber Issue 2 to hit the shelves in about a week.
