Pioneer Press: Weak Dollar Leads To Expensive Guinness
The Pioneer Press reports that local bar owners are feeling the impact of a weak dollar. At St. Paul’s Liffey’s Irish Pub, the cost of a pint of Guinness is up 9 percent over last year.
For owner Kieran Folliard, the increase isn’t boosting profits. He’s paying sharply higher prices for imported Guinness as the Euro rises. To keep customers, he offers daily discounts on beer prices.
